WELCOME HOME JACK

Listen to the silence
as my father closed his eyes.
Nothing is more frightening
as when that sound inside you dies.
I saw his body perish.
I watched his soul soar high.
I felt him all around us,
as the world began to cry.

The sun asked me permission,
would it be alright to rise.
The moon was quite discouraged
as to worry “bout the tides.
Father Time’s three children stumbled
like kids in schoolyard lines.
God was heartily sorry
for his unforgiven crime
and said, “This day is marked forever
as the beginning or the end;
Today’s the day I get back
my long lost dearest friend.”

Lucky God…
